Follow up physio appointments tend to be 30 minutes and cost £45. Sports Massage costs £50 for a 60 minute appointment. Block booking discounts are available - please ask for more details.

We take cash or card payments (Visa and Mastercard only) and can also take both Apple and Android Pay. We are also happy to take card payments over the phone as well as bank transfers or, if you are lucky enough to have a Physio Effect Gift Voucher, that works too!

What should I wear?

Wear something comfy, that will allow access to the injury and the surrounding areas. We have changing facilities on site if needs be.

Is there Free Parking on site?

There is free parking at our Northside Clinic and Studio in the marked bays only on Borron St, or in the industrial estate further up the hill.

I have Private Medical Insurance - Can I use it for your services?

That often depends on your policy but in most cases, especially for Physiotherapy Services, yes. We are proud to be recognised providers for the following Companies: AVIVA, AXA, BUPA, CIGNA, WPA and many more. We are also more than happy to email you a copy of your invoice should you have a policy where you pay first and then claim back the costs or your treatment.

We have partnered with the Seafarers Hospital Society (SHS). Founded in 1821, the SHS is one of the oldest maritime charities in the world, which for over 200 years has been dedicated to the provision of healthcare and wellbeing services to merchant navy seafarers and fishermen of any nationality working in UK waters. Read more here or contact us to find out if you can access Free Physiotherapy

i am an active fisherman or merchant navy worker - can i qualify for treatment?

We completely understand that many of our clients are extremely active. It is generally advisable not to train/exercise on the same day after having treatment.  This can be discussed with your therapist where you can formulate a plan working around your training schedules and/or events.

How can I plan a treatment around my usual training sessions?

Is it going to hurt?

Some of the treatments may cause discomfort and it's not unusual to feel tender around your injury or treatment site for a day or so after the treatment. Your therapist will discuss any concerns you have before, during and after treatment and treatment methods and intensity will always be gauged on an individual basis. We are extremely patient focused here at Physio Effect and will consult with you around how you would like the treatment plan to work - ie. it may take a few more sessions of a less intense method to get the same results.

What is your class timetable?

We currently hold a number of Clinical Pilates classes throughout the week - click here for the timetable and have a look on our Clinical Pilates page to find out more

How long does an appointment take?

Physiotherapy: Initial appointments are 45 minutes and allow the practitioner time to perform an assessment and start your treatment. Follow up appointments are routinely 30 minutes unless you and your therapist agree an 'Extended Return" of 45 minutes would be more beneficial. 60 minute appointments are also available on request.

Sports Massage: Appointments are generally one hour although it is possible to book for a two-hour session. Sometimes, if the Therapist has space in their diary, it is possible to call in and secure a 30-minute massage on a given day but these cannot be pre-booked.

Pelvic Health Assessment: Comprehensive assessments are 60 minutes. Follow up appointments may be between 30-45 minutes depending on your individual requirements.

Shockwave Therapy: These treatments are generally performed as a minimum block of 3 treatment sessions each 7-10 days apart. Each session will be approximately 30 minutes and may combine other therapies alongside shockwave. Your therapist may suggest shockwave therapy as a suitable course for your specific injury. Shockwave therapy is also available via private health insurance for some conditions

Clinical Pilates: Clinical Pilates sessions (1:1 and Classes) last one hour each.

Do I need a GP referral to see a physiotherapist?

Not usually - you can self refer by calling us (0141 230 4766) or completing the form here. If you are with a Private Medical Insurance Company - they may require a letter from your GP but please confirm with them directly.

Should I get physiotherapy treatment or a massage?

Good question! Generally, if you feel you have an injury, it's best to get a physio to assess it. Physio can provide local treatment to your area of injury as well as exercises for rehabilitation and guidance on the best management strategies. However if you have more general aches and pains, it may be worth having a sports massage to help release tension and stiffness which could ease your issues. if you're not sure, please do get in touch.

How long will it take to get an appointment?

Sometimes we have appointments available on the day, sometimes, it might be a few days until we can accommodate you, depending on your availability.

I set up an account in the web shop - how do i sign in?

You can access your Account by logging in here

I need to cancel/ reschedule my appointment - what do I do?

Appointments can be cancelled without fee up to 24hrs in advance - please click on the cancellation link in your confirmation email or call us on 0141 230 4766. Late Cancellations (within 24hrs) incur a % charge and failure to attend an appointment will incur the full cost of the appointment.

Why do I have to wait 6-8 weeks post partum to start the CryBaby class?

It’s advisable to wait the full 6 weeks after labour to exercise again so to allow the body to heal and recover. The hormones that cause laxity to all your tendons and ligaments will be at its peak and also there will be a dinner plate sized wound on your uterine wall from where the placenta has detached. Roughly 6 weeks is also when your lochia bleeding starts to settle down.
